Thank you for your interest in the Canines for Service Foster Program! Volunteer Dog Fosters are an important part of our organization. Our fosters give our service dogs in training the opportunity to gain experience in a household with exciting new environments and people. These experiences are an important part of our training program in order to be sure our service dogs in training can acclimate to any situation they may face with their Veteran. We have opportunities for both weekend and puppy fostering.
Fosters must live no more than 1.5 hours from our Canines for Service facility in Wilmington, NC (221 Old Dairy Rd, Wilmington, NC 28412) and be willing to travel for training, pick-ups/drop-offs, etc. as needed for the program. If you are interested in fostering a service dog-in-training from our program, please complete the application below. Once submitted, please allow ample time for the CFS Team to review your application and a staff member will be touch. If accepted, you will be required to attend an orientation and comply with the necessary requirements of the program.
